About Us

Our Evalution Process

A Personalized & Comprehensive Approach

At Developmental Neuropsychology Associates, we believe that every evaluation should be tailored to the individual—not just a standardized battery of tests. Our process is designed to be thoughtful, collaborative, and informative, ensuring that families leave with a clear understanding of strengths, challenges, and next steps.

STEP 1

Free Initial Phone Consultation (20 Minutes)

What It Includes:

✔ A brief conversation to understand your concerns and determine if an evaluation is the right next step.

✔ Overview of our practice philosophy and testing approach (we take a person-centered, flexible battery approach).

✔ Guidance on which of our services best fit your needs—or a referral if another provider would be a better match.

*This consultation is free of charge and ensures families feel confident before moving forward.

STEP 2

Scheduling & Completing Intake Forms

Once you decide to proceed, you’ll work with our Clinical Care Coordinator to

schedule your evaluation. You’ll receive an electronic intake packet via our secure HIPAA-compliant portal to complete:

  • Consent forms

  • Comprehensive developmental & medical history questionnaire

  • Parent & teacher rating scales (if applicable)

*Completing these forms before testing helps us understand your concerns before we even meet.

STEP 3

Virtual Parent Interview (Before In-Person Testing)

A one-hour virtual meeting with parents/caregivers to gather essential background information.

✔ We discuss developmental history, daily functioning, and key concerns that testing will explore.

✔ We outline what to expect on testing days and how to prepare your child.

✔ This conversation helps us personalize the evaluation, and clarify the goals of the evaluation.

STEP 4

In-Person Testing Sessions

Each evaluation includes face-to-face testing sessions conducted in a comfortable, supportive environment.

✔ The number of sessions varies, but most evaluations require two separate in-person testing days.

✔ We take a flexible battery approach—adapting testing as we learn more during the evaluation.

✔ We focus not just on results, but on how a person thinks, problem-solves, and engages with tasks.

Our goal is to ensure that testing reflects real-world strengths and challenges, not just performance on standardized tasks.

STEP 5

Collecting Collateral Information (As Needed)

We go beyond the testing room by gathering insights from key people in your child’s life.

✔ With parental permission, we may speak with teachers, therapists, or other professionals involved in your child’s care.

✔ We review relevant records (previous evaluations, school reports, medical records).

✔ This step helps ensure that our recommendations fit real-life challenges.

STEP 6

Feedback Session (Results & Next Steps)

Once testing is complete, we schedule a 60-minute feedback session (typically 3-4 weeks after testing).

✔ Parents meet with the clinician (and the child, when appropriate) to review key findings.

✔ We discuss strengths, challenges, and provide a roadmap of next steps.

✔ We ensure families fully understand the results and feel equipped to move forward.

STEP 7

Report Delivery & Support

Families receive a well-organized, reader-friendly report that is:

✔ Clear & understandable—no excessive jargon, just meaningful insights.

✔ Actionable—filled with specific, practical recommendations for home, school, and dailylife.

✔ Tailored to the individual—not a generic template, but a true reflection of the person we evaluated.

Our job isn’t just to provide test scores—it’s to give families a roadmap that actually makes sense.
